Well, I guess for both buyer and seller, we go into these transactions with the idea that the “bottom line” is of utmost importance. But as we move along on the path to the closing, we begin to realize that the nature of the path to that bottom line may be even more important. It’s that path that we travel that determines how we feel at the close. These transactions spread out over weeks and usually months. And they are complex! So many things to consider, so many things to understand, so many doubts that pop up along the way. This ain’t no place for the novice to strike out on his or her own. And we didn’t. Few do. We were lucky to be led on that journey by our friend and neighbor, Mariann Matarese. She gave us great advice all the way through. She new the market well and helped us pick a selling price that would attract a significant number of offers. Enough offers that a competition would emerge thereby pressing the price higher. She new what had to be done to put the house in the condition that would make it most appealing to the buyers. She understood all those damn forms and was excellent at explaining what they meant. And she was fun to work with…..But even more important, at all times, she was professional and principled. The end result: a good “bottom line” for both buyer and seller and a relaxed feeling that resulted from knowledge that everything was done right. Thank you, Mariann.
